In 2011 a string of raids occurred in Washington State and Montana, let’s call this Operation Asshole since we may never know the truly coordinated effort here. What we do know is that the raids in Montana slowed down the state’s legalization progress and killed Richard Flor while the raids in Washington created selected victims in a play to pay state. One of those victims is Lance Gloor.
Why does a man who grew and sold cannabis in a recreationally legal state sit in prison for doing the same thing as 1000 other shops and growers in the same state? Why does an American sit behind bars for committing a crime in his state that it’s presently legal in?
If you believe the Department of Justice, its because he was breaking the law by being successful at selling marijuana which isn’t a fucking crime. Below is the official statement:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, January 15, 2016
Owner of String of Marijuana ‘Dispensaries’ Convicted of Drug Trafficking
Owner of ‘Cross’ Group of Dispensaries Operated in Violation of Federal and State Law
A south Puget Sound area resident who tried to hide his illegal drug dealing behind what he falsely claimed was a ‘medical marijuana’ dispensary consistent with state law, was convicted today in U.S. District Court in Tacoma of two federal charges related to drug distribution, announced U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes. The jury deliberated 4 hours before finding LANCE EDWARD GLOOR, 37, guilty of conspiracy to distribute marijuana, and manufacturing marijuana. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on conspiracy to commit money laundering and acquitted GLOOR of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. GLOOR faces a mandatory minimum 5 years to 40 years in prison when sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ronald B. Leighton on April 15, 2016.
According to records filed in the case and testimony at trial, GLOOR and his long-time business associate were the subjects of law enforcement investigations as early as 2010. In the fall of 2010, local law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at GLOOR’s home where they discovered more than 70 marijuana plants and a firearm. While awaiting trial on charges filed in state court, GLOOR and his associate opened four so-called marijuana ‘dispensaries:’ Tacoma Cross, Lacey Cross, Seattle Cross, and over on the Kitsap Peninsula, KPN Cross. A joint state and federal law enforcement investigation revealed that these locations claimed to be medical marijuana “non-profit dispensaries” operating under state law, when in fact they were for profit businesses generating millions of dollars in gross revenues totally inconsistent with applicable state requirements. Search warrants were served on the business in 2011, and following that GLOOR claimed he was getting out of the marijuana business. In fact, further investigation and a second round of search warrants in 2013 revealed GLOOR was still operating two of the four dispensaries, but had attempted to hide his ongoing role.
GLOOR was indicted with two co-conspirators in November 2013. His co-conspirators have entered guilty pleas and are awaiting sentencing.
The case was investigated by the Thurston Narcotic Task Force (TNT) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Vince Lombardi and Marci Ellsworth.
Lance Gloor’s trial was a shim sham of a show especially when the presiding judge chastised Lance by calling him a “flim-flamm” of a man (I shit you not). As cannabis goes through its many policy struggles under the present administration, we must never forget that no matter who is in charge, good men and women go to jail and have has their lives ruined over a stupid fucking law, not the plant.
The raids that Lance is a victim of occurred in 2011, the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment could have saved Lance since it wasn’t in effect until 2013, but it wasn’t just the fed that was out to get Lance. There’s a questionable law enforcement agency that exists in Washington known as WESTNET. Evidence presented in court went like this, an officer went to marijuana dispensary but denied access since he did not have a prescription. From there the offending officer went to a medical practitioner and gained a script for a being a fat lazy piece of shit asshole. With said script the officer gained access to the dispensary, only to drool and lust over young female budtenders, as per his testimony.
Lance owned three dispensaries at the time, and the officer made it to two of them I believe, this was the undercover evidence gathered by WESTNET. Some asshole got a script and bought legal purchases of cannabis. The Washington State side of WESTNET could not prosecute Lance but the federal size could and did.
With zeal, as if they caught Al Capone I saw a Federal prosecuting attorney and presiding judge railroad an American to prison for doing one of the most American things, being successful from a seed. If you have time drop Lance a line, you can find his info here P.O.W 420. Lance is coming up to his second year of a ten-year sentence kidnapped behind bars, now is more important for America to get its shit together.
